Vacancy: Member of the “Events and Communication” Commission at the European Institute on Communist Oppression (EIOCO)

The European Institute on Communist Oppression (EIOCO) is seeking a dedicated and proactive individual to join our Events and Communication Commission. In this role, you will actively participate in advising the EIOCO Board and helping to implement strategic decisions that align with our mission.

As a member of the Events and Communication Commission, you will contribute your knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm to support the goals of EIOCO, execute Board decisions, and provide fresh ideas to further our cause.

Responsibilities of the Events and Communication Commission:

  • Advise the Board on strategic communication and event-related policies.
  • Prepare and coordinate a variety of national and international activities.
  • Assist in the execution of Board decisions.
  • Identify and research potential partners and stakeholders.
  • Explore opportunities for financial grants and funding to support EIOCO’s initiatives.
  • Support the Board’s social media presence and online communication efforts.

Profile of the Ideal Candidate:

As a member of the Events and Communication Commission, you will play a vital role in promoting awareness of the atrocities committed under communist regimes. We are looking for a candidate with the following experience and qualifications:

Experience & Skills:

  • Proven experience in organizing, preparing, and coordinating events and initiatives.
  • Experience in researching funding opportunities and financial grants.
  • A strong understanding of geopolitics.
  • A relevant national and/or international network.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
  • A proactive and goal-oriented mindset.
  • Willingness to work outside regular office hours, including weekends, when necessary.
  • Flexibility to attend meetings and events, both in person and remotely.
  • Proficiency in using Excel, social media platforms, and digital tools.
  • Strong skills in editing and preparing formal texts.
  • Proficiency in English and Dutch, both spoken and written, preferably at C1 level.

Time Commitment and Compensation:

  • The role requires an average of 2 hours per week, with additional time during the preparation and execution of events.
  • This is a voluntary position, offering valuable opportunities to contribute to EIOCO’s mission, expand your professional experience, and grow your national and international network.
  • The Board meets at least twice a year, either in person or digitally.
  • The position is for a one-year term, with the possibility of extension upon successful completion.
